The Stark County Terriers 14U defeated Jackson Gold 13-3 on Monday thanks to a timely ten runs in a big third inning. The Terriers big bats were led by Chase Duplain, Jackson Lurie, Beau Battershell, Blayne Maurer, and Christopher Maurer, who each had RBIs in the inning.
In the first inning, Jackson Gold got their offense started. Slackford drove in one when he singled.
The Terriers evened things up at two in the bottom of the second inning. Lurie grounded out, scoring one run.
After Jackson Gold scored one run in the top of the fourth, the Terriers answered with one of their own. Jackson Gold scored when Yung grounded out, scoring one run. The Terriers then answered when Snyder induced Lurie to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.
The Terriers pulled away for good with ten runs in the third inning. In the third Duplain drew a walk, scoring one run, Lurie doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs, Battershell drew a walk, scoring one run, Maurer singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs, and Maurer doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
Tony Wood led things off on the mound for the Terriers. He lasted two and a third innings, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out four and walking one.
Blood toed the rubber for Jackson Gold. He lasted two innings, allowing zero hits and four runs while striking out three. Snyder, Morgan, and Gandee each contributed in relief for Jackson Gold.
Nate Johnson, B Maurer, C Maurer, and Lurie each collected one hit to lead the Terriers.
