Early Lead For Jackson Bears Seals Fate For 14U

The Stark County Terriers 14U watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in an 11-5 loss to the Jackson Bears on Thursday. The Bears took the lead on a single in the first inning.

The Terriers struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Jackson Bears - Gold, giving up 11 runs.

Jackson got things moving in the first inning. They scored one run when Morgan singled.

Stark County tallied three runs in the fifth inning. Their big inning was driven by singles by Chase Duplain and Zack Stokoe and an error on a ball put in play by Blayne Maurer.

Jackson scored five runs in the sixth inning. The offensive onslaught by Jackson Bears - Gold was led by Snyder, Morgan, Lombard, and Hillard, all knocking in runs in the inning.

Morgan got the start for the Jackson Bears. He surrendered four runs on five hits over four and a third innings, striking out four.

Maurer toed the rubber for the Terriers. He lasted two and a third innings, allowing six hits and six runs while striking out two. Duplain and Christopher Maurer entered the game from the bullpen, throwing three innings and one and two-thirds innings respectively.

Maurer led the Terriers with two hits in four at bats.

Jackson tallied 13 hits. Morgan, Smith, Lombard, and Snyder all managed multiple hits for the Bears. Jackson tore up the base paths, as three players stole at least two bases. Gandee led the way with three.
