The Stark County Terriers 10U Fastpitch Team was in action this weekend at the Ashland Summer Classic , USA Softball National Qualifier.
Your Terriers started off the weekend by facing off against the Black Widows 2010.
The girls faught hard and couldnt get the runs in and lost 4-1.
Next pool play game the Terriers came up against the Black Widows 2011 team and won with a flurry of hits taking down the Black Widows by a score of 18-4.
On to Bracket play. Your Terriers were slotted up against the Ohio Emeralds and man was it a pitchers duel with J.J. Wallace for the Ohio Emeralds and Ava Newman for your Stark County Terriers. Both girls pitched amazing games ! The Terriers came out on top 2-1
Emeralds go up 1-0 in the top of the 1st .
Terriers tie the game up 1-1 in the bottom of the 1st. Abigail Seders reaches on a single . Then Abigail steals 2nd. Ainsley White reaches base on a dropped 3rd ball strike moving Seders to 3rd. Seders scores after an error by the catcher is committed.
The winning run came across in the bottom of the 4th inning. Teagan Frey hits a hard ground ball and reaches first base on an error. Teagan then steals 2nd. On the next pitch speedy Teagan steals 3rd. With only 1 out Grace Douglas hits a ground ball to the 2nd basemen and Teagan Frey scores giving Grace the RBI and the Terriers the winning run!
With the win the Terriers advanced to the championship game facing off again against the Black Widows 2010 Team.
The Black Widows took the lead in the bottom of the 1st .
The Terriers tie the game up in the top of the 3rd after McKenna Frei reaches base on a walk. After two groundball outs McKenna Frei is on 3rd base with Ava Newman at the plate. Ava hits a shot past the shortstop to score Frei on a single.
In the Bottom of the 3rd the Black Widows bats came alive and take back the lead 3-1
In the Top of the 5th The Terrier magic happened as follows. Grace Douglas has a beautiful single on a fly ball to right field. McKenna Frei hits a ground ball and reaches 2nd on an error by the 3rd basemen and Grace Douglas scores.
Next up Ava Newman smashes a ball to left field scoring McKenna Frei. Games all tied up. Up to bat is Ainsley White who hits a shot to left field advancing Ava to 2nd. Ava advances to 3rd on a passed ball . Next Abigail Seders on a hard ground ball pass the left fielder scoring Ava and advancing Ainsley to 2nd. Next up is Anna Dennis who hits a rocket to to center field scoring Ava and Ainsley and then reaches 3rd on a throw to the plate. Anna Dennis then scores on a wild pitch giving the Terriers a 7-3 lead.
Last inning top of the 6th Mckenna Frei reaches on a walk. McKenna then steals 2nd. Sophia Nicholas moves McKenna to 3rd on a hard ground out. Next to the plate Mackenzie Milhoan hits a blast to right field and scores Frei. The Terriers defense held tough in the bottom of the 6th and only let one run in Winnimg the Championship by a score of 8-4!!!!! What a great weekend Girls!
Tournament MVP for our team was Abigail Seders, who had 4 hits and 8 RBI's and a grand slam!
Terriers Fastpitch is off for 4th of July but will be back in action in Akron Ohio at the Summer Sizzler on July 10th and 11th.
