Stark County Terriers 14U stole the lead late in the game in a 5-4 victory over Spikes on Thursday. The game was tied at four with the Terriers batting in the bottom of the fourth when Kaleb Corrin singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
The Terriers earned the victory despite allowing the Spikes to score four runs in the first inning. The Spikes's big inning was driven by walks by #2 and #28 and singles by #7 and #41.
The Spikes opened up scoring in the first inning, when #7 singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Terriers tied things up at four. An error scored one run for them. The Terriers pulled away for good with one run in the fourth inning.
Blayne Maurer led things off on the hill for the Terriers. He surrendered four runs on three hits over two and a third innings.
#28 started the game for the Spikes. He surrendered two runs on two hits over two innings. #7 threw three innings in relief.
Corrin led the Terriers with two hits in two at bats.
