Collegiate Terriers Hold Off Premier Ohio As 5-Run Deficit Is Nearly Erased.

The Stark County Terriers built a five-run lead in the sixth inning and then held off Premier Ohio's charge for a 6-4 victory on Sunday. Premier Ohio scored three runs in the failed comeback on a double by Michael Williams and a single by Isaac Stouffer.


Stark County Terriers grabbed an early lead. Stark County Terriers 18O took the lead on a single in the first inning.


Premier Ohio evened things up at one in the bottom of the first inning. Jake Williams's sac fly scored one run for Premier Ohio.


Stark County Terriers pulled away for good with one run in the second inning.


Stark County Terriers scored three runs in the sixth inning. Stark County Terriers 18O batters contributing to the big inning included John Philippi, Alex Hawkins, and Shea Simmer, all driving in runs in the frame.


Jordan Shearer led the Stark County Terriers to victory on the pitcher's mound. The pitcher allowed two hits and one run over four innings, striking out six. Lane Marshall threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Marshall recorded the last eight outs to earn the save for Stark County Terriers.


Jack Florig took the loss for Premier Ohio. The bulldog went one inning, allowing zero runs on zero hits and walking zero.


Stark County Terriers totaled 14 hits in the game. Philippi, Breydan Cavey, and Davis Burick each racked up multiple hits for Stark County Terriers. Philippi led Stark County Terriers 18O with three hits in three at bats.


Premier Ohio collected six hits. Williams and Stouffer all had multiple hits for Premier Ohio.
