Collegiate Terriers Smack Ten Hits, Lose To Golden Spikes.

Both the Golden Spikes and the Terriers had their offenses going on Wednesday, but the Terriers eventually succumbed 12-8 in the high-scoring affair.


The Terriers captured the lead in the first inning. An error scored two runs.


After the Spikes scored two runs in the top of the second, Stark County answered with two of their own. The Golden Spikes scored when an error brought in one run and Charles Winans singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.


The Golden Spikes took the lead for good with eight runs in the third inning. In the third an error scored two runs for the Spikes, Seth Gergely singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run, and Winans singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.


Cameron Fuller was credited with the victory for the Golden Spikes. He went five innings, allowing seven runs on nine hits and striking out six. Mason Metz threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.


Gino Sabatine took the loss for Stark County. He went two and a third innings, allowing 12 runs on nine hits and striking out one.


The Terriers collected ten hits on the day. Ben LeFebvre and Jon Conkle each managed multiple hits. Conkle and LeFebvre each collected two hits to lead the team.


The Golden Spikes tallied 13 hits on the day. Winans, Ronald Krsolovic, and Anthony Charles each collected multiple hits. Winans went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead in hits.
