Runs At A Premium As The Collegiate Terriers Defeat Ohio Elite!

Both teams were strong on the pitcher's mound Friday at Thurman Munson Stadium, but the Stark County Terriers defeated Ohio Elite 3-2. The Terriers pitchers allowed just six hits to Ohio Elite.


Ohio Elite got on the board in the first inning when Andrew Micale singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.


In the top of the second inning, the Terriers tied things up at one. Lane Marshall drove in one with a single.


After Stark County scored one run in the top of the sixth, Ohio Elite answered with one of their own. The Terriers scored when Matthew McGrath drew a walk, scoring one run. Ohio Elite then answered when Nick Stoltz grounded out, scoring one run.


Stark County pulled away for good with one run in the fourth inning. Lane Marshall singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.


Drew Hallgren was the winning pitcher for the Terriers. He allowed five hits and one run over four and a third innings, striking out four. Eric Baum and Jordan Shearer entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Shearer recorded the last two outs to earn the save for the Terriers.


Jacob Visha took the loss for Ohio Elite. The hurler went four innings, allowing two runs on six hits, striking out three and walking one.


The Terriers had seven hits in the game. Marshall and Jack Mathey each collected two hits to lead the Terriers.
