Terriers 14U Baseball Team Wins the 2024 Sandlot Showdown!

The Stark County Terriers 14U Travel Baseball Team won the 2024 Sandlot Showdown in the Akron/Canton area this past weekend.

The team had an April record of 10-3 which included a Tournament Runner Up and kept that momentum rolling last weekend going 4-0 in tournament play. What was most impressive was that all four wins were by mercy rule, a first for this group in their vast tournament experience.

The Terriers outscored their four opponents 50-14 in dominating fashion. The Dawgs opened up Pool play with a 14-6 win vs The Titans Baseball Club 14U, followed by a 10-2 win against Team Ice 14U, earning the top seed in Bracket Play as the only undefeated team. After being down 6-2 against New Philadelphia in game 1 of Bracket Play, the team erupted for 6 runs in the 3rd inning on their way to another run rule, 14-6. The Championship Game, played under the lights at Thurman Munson Memorial Stadium, was the icing on the cake to a great weekend where we saw the team take it to the Brownlee Lookouts 14U, 12-0. The Dawgs scored 4 runs in each of the first 3 innings and put the game away securing the ring.

The team is led by Head Coach Jason Paone and assistants Dan Gauze, Sean Waltz, Gary Trbovich, Caleb House, and Matt House. The team plays locally in the Stark Summit Baseball League and has competed in 3 tournaments to date with 5 remaining.
