The Stark County Terriers snagged a late lead and defeated Ohio Elite 4-3 on Friday. The game was tied at three withthe Terriers batting in the top of the ninth when Braden Broom tripled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Ohio Elite got things moving in the first inning. Christopher Franks grounded out, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Ohio Elite tied things up at three when Isaac Moore doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.
Stark County put up three runs in the fifth inning. They scored its runs on a double by Ty Sowers.
Griffen Ailes earned the victory on the hill for Stark County. Ailes surrendered one run on one hit over three and two-thirds innings, striking out five.
TJ Newman took the loss for Ohio Elite. The hurler went four and a third innings, allowing one run on five hits, striking out seven and walking zero.
Francisco Olivarez started the game for Ohio Elite. Olivarez went four and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out seven Drew Becker started the game for the Terriers. He went five and a third innings, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out six.
Stark County tallied ten hits. Aidan Grabowski, Broom, and Sowers each racked up multiple hits for the Terriers. Grabowski went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead in hits. Stark County was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Isaiah Miller had the most chances in the field with 13.
