Terriers 14U Grabs Lead In Fourth Inning To Defeat SC Sliders

The Stark County Terriers 14U stole the lead late in the game in an 11-9 victory over SC Sliders on Tuesday. The game was tied at seven with the Terriers batting in the bottom of the fourth when Christopher Maurer singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.


The Sliders scored five runs in the first inning, but the Terriers still managed to pull out the victory. SC Sliders offense in the inning was led by #4, Trent, #3, and #8, who all drove in runs.


In the first inning, the Sliders got their offense started. #4 singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.


After the Sliders scored one run in the top of the fifth, the Terriers answered with one of their own.


The Terriers scored five runs in the third inning. The big bats were led by Lurie, Kaleb Corrin, and Nate Johnson, who each had RBIs in the inning.


The Terriers pulled away for good with four runs in the fourth inning. Blayne Maurer singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run, Jackson Lurie grounded out, scoring one run, and Zack Stokoe singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run


Grant Young led things off on the hill for Stark County. He lasted one and one-third innings, allowing five hits and six runs while striking out two.


#8 was on the hill for the SC Sliders. He lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and five runs while striking out one and walking one. #4 and #23 entered the game as relief, throwing one and two-thirds innings and two-thirds of an inning respectively.


The Terriers collected ten hits. Ryan Grega, Stokoe, and Maurer all managed multiple hits for Stark County. Maurer, Stokoe, and Grega each collected two hits to lead the Terriers.


The SC Sliders totaled eight hits in the game. #4 and #8 all managed multiple hits. They stole five bases during the game as two players stole more than one.
