Kyle Burke drove in five on three hits to lead the Collegiate Terriers past Maryland Bay Crabs 16-3 on Thursday. Burke drove in runs on a single in the second, a double in the sixth, and a single in the seventh.
In the second inning, the Terriers got their offense started when Burke singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
Stark County notched six runs in the seventh inning. The Terriers put the pressure on, lead by singles by Burke and Seth Schroeder, a walk by Seeker, and a double by Aidan Arkwright.
Gino Sabatine earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for the Terriers. He allowed five hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out 14 and walking one.
Cannon took the loss for the Maryland Bay Crabs. He went four innings, allowing six runs on seven hits and striking out three.
The Terriers smacked one home run on the day. Collin Hohman had a dinger in the fourth inning. Stark County had 14 hits in the game. Jordan Hite, Burke, Hohman, and Arkwright each collected multiple hits. Burke and Hite had three hits to lead the team.
Harding led the Maryland Bay Crabs with two hits in two at bats.
In game 2, the Michigan Area Braves could not field enough players and had to forfeit.
